Why there is no universal 48-hour answer
Resistance-training recovery changes with session volume, proximity to failure, exercise choice, training history, and the outcome being measured. In one study of trained men, failure protocols delayed several recovery markers compared with non-failure protocols. Another found a high-volume protocol produced longer performance deficits than a high-intensity, lower-repetition protocol.
Soreness, force, repetition performance, movement velocity, and muscle swelling can also recover on different schedules. A recovery label should therefore be read as organized context, not proof that every system is ready.
What Forma does not claim
The app does not claim to see muscle tissue, measure inflammation, identify an injury, or know the exact hour a muscle has recovered. Pain, unusual weakness, or a suspected injury belongs outside an app estimate.
