Why 1.6 g/kg is often misunderstood
What it is
An estimated breakpoint from one meta-regression of study-level data. It helps describe where average additional fat-free-mass benefit appeared to flatten in that model.
What it is not
It is not a clinical minimum, a universal maximum, a guarantee of muscle gain, or a reason to ignore total energy intake, food quality, training, age, or health.
For a 75 kg person, 1.6 g/kg equals 120 g per day. That multiplication is transparent arithmetic, not a personalized prescription.
